  Steven GrantBorn: October 22 1953, in Madison WI USA. Graduated BA-Communication Arts-Film/Television from University of Wisconsin-Madison (1974-1977), where he began writing on film, music & theater for local publications Moving Picture, Emerald City Chronicle & Isthmus.  Became reviews editor for Emerald City Chronicle & editor of scholarly film journal Velvet Light Trap.  Dabbling in alternative comics in the mid-'70s resulted in a 1978 invite from Marvel editor Roger Stern.  Moved to Manhattan in Fall '78; wrote comics for Marvel and smaller companies, music criticism mainly for Trouser Press, and reported for Jim Steranko's Mediascene.  Work with the Children's Television Workshop led to writing teen adventure novels; co-renovated The Hardy Boys for a 125+ novel run in the '80s.  Wrote bestselling comics biography of Pope John Paul II, created longrunning feature Whisper for Capital/First.  Moved to Los Angeles in mid-'80s, wrote for a number of comics companies as well as The Face. Video Magazine and Option, and with artist Mike Zeck transformed previously minor character Punisher into a phenomenon.  Co-founded TSR-West Comics in late '80s.  Continued to work with as many companies as possible in the '90s, including Marvel, DC, First, Eclipse, Tekno, Harris, Wildstorm, Vortex and Chaos, creating many new characters and properties and adapting others while building a reputation for crime and action-adventure fiction.  Also freelanced for Mattel, and has worked in television and advertising.  Currently lives outside Las Vegas and continues to write comics, screenplays, prose fiction and criticism. ies Contacting Steven Grant
